If anyone was confused by Midou's reference of the night bell: The night bell is a Buddhist tradition wherein temples ring their bells 108 times on new years. Each ring represents a human sin, and the hope is that ringing the bells removes any sins committed in the past year. The bell is rung 107 times on the 31st and once after midnight. The joke here is that Midou was having sinful thoughts about Hiura.
