The political intrigue is really easy to follow. It's amazing how it doesn't get bogged down in specific clever ploys that a lot of authors use to boost suspense and add mystery, but focuses on the characters themselves interpreting what themselves find culturally significant around them. It's fascinating at how elegant this is. No wonder this is such a great manga.
