It seems oddly fitting to have a villain in an otome game whose grandmother's and mother's lives were ruined (and possibly ended) by noblewomen trying to set up the 'correct' matches.

I like having an MC in one of these stories that isn't worried at all about completely derailing the plot, and realizes that her very existence derails it, so she's just going to go for the gusto.

Bern's father was already engaged to someone else when Bern's mother quickly fell for him and convinced him kinda against his will to break the engagement and marry her instead. So the manga is making her sound a bit more sympathetic.
