@Yin_Riench the manga doesn’t explain it well but I read a few spoilers and according to the novel, the king said he’d “take care of the woman and the child (if said child exists)”. MC assumed he meant he’d kill her and her child if he finds out which is why she’s desperate to hide it from him. Hope I make sense?

@Kousora It's not the look; some become extremely sensitive to smells for a certain period during pregnancy and they'll be completely put off associated foods. While it doesn't always happen and it isn't a 'good' thing, it's normal unless they can't even stomach bland food (And the author is probably going for 'the emeporor's food is the opposite of smelling bland'). She gets a craving for citrus, so she can still eat.

@Rayysist That's fine and all but I don't see how that contradicts or fix my statement in any way.

If anything, your comment puts in the spot the absolute flaw of leaving important information for the reader out AND confusing the readers in the process.

I enjoy comparing books and other medias (book vs movie, book vs manga/manhwa), but my general opinion is if you can't understand one without the other, they failed.

And even now, it's not like the drawer can't fix it in the future, but as the presentation of the story it bores me. And that's an opinion. You might enjoy the fact that it's been adapted from something you already know.
