@GridLite Are you sure that guy was actually his son? At least, blood related? From what I've seen, it's absurdly rare for the MC to have a life and death conflict ine Chinese novels. After all, they push filial piety like crazy and having an unfilial child is viewed as a massive shame. Plus, they like to have some sort of "magical" relationship were you suddenly feel close to anyone blood related.
