@Airwave2k2 I'm trying to figure out what it was that broke, but no dice. It looks a little like a headlight, but not when you look at the actual picture where it smashed (it's too big, and she smashed something above it anyway).

As for value, she's probably off by just guesstimating (just like her daughter). I briefly considered that she didn't understand how repairs worked and assumed this meant she'd have to buy a new car, but the money cited seems to high even for that..

It's the suit of armour behind her. I'd assume it was ceramic or something, rather than metal from how it broke so easy.

@ixlone Aah, yea, there's the visor up top as well, and she struck the gorget.

Given the value she cited, it's probably original, so made out of metal. Presumably then rusted and worn metal (then polished up again but not reinforced), so with significant weaknesses. (Probably part of why mother isn't blaming her much. It was kind of an accident waiting to happen).
