I am starting to wonder if everyone in this story is a complete idiot they always boast about defeating the hero and how they will make him a stepping stone but you would think after seeing him murder anyone that tried to before or the fact that he has come back from the dead twice and each time do came back stronger that maybe they should rethink their plans or better yet actually make a solid plan to defeat him that isn't getting a bunch of people to be mad on the internet. Fleet command has shown that they don't really care what he does and the fact that the fleet is at war with the dragon slayer alliance means that they won't back don't from a fight.

I dont think they are idiots. They are just too self confident. Most of them believe they are #1, and everyone else is below them (which granted, just about everyone is). So when a new individual comes who says that they are better than them, the self confident asshole cant comprehend that. There is no proof that they are better than him, so why should he think he is beneath them? Most also come from lines of power. Nobility (or whatever you call an influential family) carries a certain pride along with it. Having direct relations to it basically means you lived your entire life with power over others. So accepting someone having power over you is simply unthinkable, because you never have experienced it, and have been taught it isn't possible from birth.
