Isekai Kenja no Tensei Musou ~Geemu no Chishiki de Isekai Saikyou~ - Vol. 1 Ch. 5 - It was like a raid.

@Hi-Im-kirby
a mast can't do anywhere near enough damage to sink a ship, only some superficial damage to the deck.
for a ship to sink you have to cause critical damage to its hull below the waterline or make it list so much that it takes in water thru other openings, this is something a broken mast on a old day wooden sailing ship just simply can not do.

it may cause damage to the crew and passengers on deck and your ability to navigate and your speed would take a severe hit, but the seaworthiness of the ship? nothing, nada, it would carry on floating just fine with no danger of sinking from the damage caused by the mast.

modern day sailing ships with their thin glass fibre or carbon fibre hulls is a different matter, in their case a broken mast could cause damage to the hull and make it sink if it ends up in the water and waves slam it against the hull.

@Medicine017 true, very true. That’s why I’d kill the noble as well and take everything he owns, and I’d live in a place where no one could find me, like a mansion that’s in a plane that is only accessible via teleportation

@Kaito9838 it's a form of firing. It's based on an actual form of archery. Can't remember it's name and there's no chance of being able to explain it without looking it up which is more effort then I'm willing to commit to this.

@Kaito9838 I'm pretty sure he didn't shoot it while the bow was reversed. I'd say he's using a style of archery with a loose grip, so that's just how the bow ended up 'after' he shot the arrow.

@theldras

I don't recall the specific explanation of what they do but for the stones I can think of a few uses. Provide extra bouyancy, calm the sea around the boat, conceal the boat from the 'majority' of monsters that don't directly see them, provide thrust/wind for the sails. Then further the mast falling over COULD damage the ship but that itself might not be enough to sink the boat unless the stones breaking causes some further catastrophe. Held back storm rages in? Stones explode on damage? Removes extra bouyancy? Lets EVERY monster know its feeding time? Perhaps some magical protection is simply NECESSARY in this world for deep sea travel because of some magic in the world.

I do know though that it won't come up again anytime soon since if I recall from the translated story he doesn't get on a boat again even in the most recent chapter I'd read.

@Chaeden since losing the stone apparently means it sinks abruptly, it has to either be bouyancy related, or water-leak related. With how the civilization there is entirely inept in all ways, my guess is that their boats aren't watertight as they haven't yet figured out that water is a fluid (so they don't know boats cant have holes in them).

Garden of Despair isn't worthy enough to even clean the toenails of Shadow Garden.
