The leg stabbing I can understand (No way to flee with the party, predators generally also aim for weak prey, fresh scent of blood's a bonus) but why they also threw a fireball at him is beyond me. (Waste of time, effort, mana, and dead bait is generally worse than live ones)

the adventure dude did say its to close the path. MC just hit by the fire AOE blast I think.
in the webnovel it says MC surrounded by fire after the fire magic blast

I'm reading the web novel at the moment and the story is different from the manga adaptation. I haven't read the light novel but I'm guessing this manga is following the story from light novel?
Frankly speaking the manga version is feel so rushed and skip a lot of details and make it compact to fill the first chapter.

The first battle he had with the wolf there is no magic (mob rank name/rank, status display, ice magic, dimension magic). He only use a sword and the ??? skill +1.00 confusion. He discovered status,skill/magic, level up system afterwards and battle some monsters along the way out. The poison debuff he gets is from poison frog and not the wolf from the beginning. There's no mentioning about his little sister too if I remember it correctly. He met the party and the girl heal/cure him but the skill ??? didn't active so his current confusion is 1.00. He reached the city after that. This is what is happening in the web novel. I'm guessing the 2nd ??? confusion on the manga is to leave a deep impression on the girl for possible future heroine I guess.

I tried to read the this series web novel and had to quit so soon due to extensive amount of human relationship drama going on between the girls and MC.

It seems that the MC is suffering more on the human relationship rather than the dungeon explore itself... MC is such a weak sauce when it comes to human relationship due to his main aim is to go back home (earth) so he didn't involve deeply on engaging with the heroines.... basically shit just keep coming up every time and its tiring to read x_x... the story is pretty depressing, heroine with dark backstory and a weak sauce MC that engage half-assed that creates more problem later on..

The artist went with his cheap shounen art style instead of awesome LN cover art style. What a shame.
Still this adaptation's pretty nice.
