5k isn't a lot when you're going to pay 3k of that 5k to someone else. Plenty of IT jobs here on the east coast (NY and NJ) pay at least 60 - 70k a year starting(minimum bachelor's in IS or CompSci)
 
Kind of a weird premise but whatever.
And yes, a $5000 monthly job where I live is way more than enough to afford a comfortable life with no worries what so ever.
The average worker lives on about $1000 monthly, even graduate professionals with a handful of years of experience don’t break the $2000 mark.

But this is a third world cesspool country rotten from corruption so what does it matter when nepotist pricks get several thousand salaries doing jackshit on government posts...
 
its a bit cheaper living in japan so $5000 usd goes a long ways fora single woman.
