Joou to Shitateya

First time I read this I gave it an 8...numerous times later I gave it a 9 and now after re-reading it again I changed it to a 10. This might not be perfection but the feeling I get, when reading it, is. I absolutely love it.

In addition to oozing atmosphere in the manner that any story that at all involves a tailor properly should...

...these are all quite compelling characters. Their relationship, too, feels quite natural and unforced, and furthermore the issues they have and the ways they resolve them seem quite appropriately tailor-made to fit the characters involved, rather than just grabbed from the bag of cliches.

I wouldn't say that it feels like a masterpiece. Rather, it feels like fine craftsmanship; everything fits together neatly and snugly and purposefully, but whilst never neglecting aesthetics.

Also tailors are just so fucking cool. (Though honestly that part of the premise seems all but forgotten in the second half of the manga, albeit not to its detriment. But it definitely influenced my opinion a little anyway.)

pretty darn good. some of the intimate scenes made me catch my breath

I've read it several times already and it's jist so good. So very very good. They're a wonderful couple, they are super caring and cozy and casual and dedicated and....
you know? They have their insecurities yet they're really mature about them. And they are really THERE the moment the typical outer intrusion comes in to bug them about their relationship and the possible complications coming out of it. They don't struggle about that even for a minute. They struggle about things that are related to themselves and the workings of their relationship within. And that's really rare.

Not to mention the top/bottom dynamic is outside of "the usual". So refreshing!! And darn, give me such an amazing tailor man for myself (minus the smoking if possible, for it unfortunately would ruin his fragrance and taste)! He's so stunning and I love how the senpai worded things. How she also said to treasure him. Don't let me start on the cozy antique shop setting and tea culture and such.

This work is a gem!

Wait! That extra! You can't be SERIOUS! So like me. Getting wet in the rain is soooo nice at times. The satisfying feeling of peeling the heavy, clingy soaked clothes off. And then getting all cozy n warm afterwards with a steaming cup of tea and the rain music going pitter patter outside. 😊
