Kanaria-tachi no Fune - Vol. 1 Ch. 6 - The Boat of the Canaries

Isn't this a bad ending?
Think about this, if she wakes up all those humans, how are they going to survive?
The isn't really space for all of them to live there, there's no food, there's no way to survive against the flora outside.
That "ship" can fly back to Earth? Would even be possible to survive the travel? And if they arrive back on Earth, now they can't survive in the atmosphere anymore, right?

It's all doomed.

@Panino I think the whole point is that they can't go back to Earth, but it's up to them to see if they can start a new life on this new planet. They have all the resources available to them: all the technology and writings left behind by the previous species, the fruit trees that allow them to adapt to this planet's atmosphere, a safe haven in the form of that ship they're in. I think "Chihiro", despite not having emotions, was lonely and looking for some sort of hope, and Yuri's determination allowed him to see the possibility of allowing a new species to live on in place of his.

I think the way the story ended was the most fitting, but it's so bittersweet how "Chihiro" started having feelings through his interactions with Yuri, but decided to melt himself anyways ): She'll never know he grew her a field of lilies...
