Ya know there's an old trope where the guy sleeps with a 'dirty girl' while holding onto the purity of his 'ideal girl'. The guy doing this feels like he would taint his ideal love if he were to seek a physical relationship with her.
Sometimes I think Leon is getting pushed into an analogous 'pure guy' role, while Michiru works through her trauma with an older dirty guy who she doesn't really respect.
