Kiyo in Kyoto: From the Maiko House - Vol. 13 Ch. 132 - The Size of Her Presence

Hey this might be a random question but do any of the maikos ever thank Kiyo for cooking everyday for them? I mean I know it’s her job ( I hope she’s being properly paid) but I can’t remember if she’s ever properly given thanks.

Laughed at the translator note. I can definitely see those things getting mixed up a lot.

@Stickerparty I found your way of thinking really strange. In my Asian point of view, it is something she do daily so suddenly saying something like that would feel rather pretentious and weird. If we want to express our gratitude, we would wait for a special occasion like a holiday or birthday and buy a gift, a thank you card, etc.
Also, this is Kiyo's job. She gets paid for it. I bet not many of us give thanks to the lunch ladies at school.

I think we found the next mother of the joint. Everyone's already expecting and relying on her so much, she's perfect for taking over the house.

It's weird to see molokheiya in a manga, especially one set in Japan. I had no idea they had it there.

Awh..... she misses them, in her own way. Not in a way of feeling sorry for herself. But that she's still making food for Momohana, and is thinking of them.....

@miyako19 oh okay, sorry. I guess it’s different here then. We were always told to thank the lunch ladies at our school growing up so maybe that’s why I think this way? Same with dinner with family. Always thanked the parent or person cooking that day. We would have gotten in trouble if we just ate our food and didn’t show gratitude. I don’t see that as pretentious. Just good manners.
