as much as i like suu-chan, i liked a lot more when the chapters were more kiyo-centric. now it’s more like seeing how other people see kiyo instead of how she seems them if that makes sense

@mootmar the story has shifted so much from Kiyo's daily life as a caterer supporting the maikos to Suu chan's daily life with Kiyo supporting mostly only her.

I think it's just the result of Suu-chan being a much more dynamic character. Kiyo is what she is: she's a stable rock who isn't phased by much doing something she enjoys with relatively little drama. Suu-chan, in comparison, is much more high strung and has more going on which probably makes it easier to find situations to put her in.

@alacaelum Well I won't argue that Kiyo is stoic enough to make Zeno proud, but that's only in regards to her (close) friends. However what if she were left alone for sunrise to sunset, would she hold up?

I don't get the whole picture of all the maikos daily schedule so I don't know if Kiyo is left alone for extensive amount of hours or if their schedules are evenly broken up so that there are always a maiko or two resting in the house.

I suppose it's just my bad habit wanting a bit of dark in my fluff.

Though, thinking back, if Kiyo does experience intense moments of loneliness, she'd be more clingy and attention seeking towards others or bottle it up and eventually explode. And she doesn't seem like the type to hold it in as shown in previous chapters.

@nutman451 I think we reached peak darkness in this series when Kenta's injury happened, i dont think the author would go to such extremes... even if i can see the appeal of psychological drama, but this one is pure floofy.

And the house schedule makes her always having people to talk to, she goes out she interacts with people and is much loved, the thing that has been circulating in the comment section about how she is paid, i have to say i dont have a conclusive answer... as far as my memory goes to the series i dont remember any interaction of her receiving payment, except for one where the mother gives her "pocket money" for her to have some fun, which obviously isnt payment.

But even if the worry is a valid point it is just us nitpicking, this series is all about floofy and the only hardships are pretty mundane ones even if they affect the girls pretty deeply sometimes.

Yes, exactly! It’s now just Suu-chan trying to adapt to being her own person/having her own identity while having kiyo’s support. And as much as it’s still easy to read, it’s a bit frustrating as I personally think she tries basing a lot of herself off of Kiyo-chan.

You’re right about Suu-chan being a much more dynamic character but I just really wish we could have gotten more insight to Kiyo’s thoughts on Kenta’s injury besides her outwardly ‘he’s fine :)’ thing along with her not visiting Aomori when given the chance. Maybe it’s just my bias for Kiyo but the whole manga is based off of her after all!

@mootmar kiyo just had that chapter where she climbed up the mountain for that prayer paper, so she isn’t entirely forgotten as an MC. But yeah I do miss the kitchen focus Kiyo, we barely see her food prep process now. The plot has shifted so there’s 2 MC, Suu-chan and Kiyo.

@alacaelum Oh yea, definitely. Though I think it can go further and explore more darker (albeit with a light at the end of the tunnel) themes. The fact that author didn't play that hand shows that it's reluctant to go to a much darker direction. And that's fine, I think the series has the potential to do that. It would be too much of a shift in tone to cause many people to drop this. On, another note I totally forgot she occasionally goes out on errands.

@nutman451 except Kiyo is content where she is? I still really don't believe that is a coping machine, but like, I don't have enough vocabulary to try and discuss about this so I believe we should agree to disagree
