@Solvash No, technically speaking a taste is just something picked up by receptors on the tongue. The burning sensation from spicy foods isn't restricted to those thus it's not considered a taste.

There's some research indicating that we have a taste receptor just for fatty food too. Part of the theory is that this receptor would encourage you to eat fatty foods to make sure you ate high energy food over other options when food is scarce. The downside is, we still like the taste of those foods a lot even when supplies are abundant.
