Because slimes are basically just malleable sentient gelatinous acids (hence, weak), so the authors can do a lot of things with their form and inherent powers freely, thus making it a fun subject to explore. I mean, slimes are liquid, thus they take form of a container, which at this point is just magic.

Not only that, R34 + Slimes = Tentacles/etc. you know, that stuff...
