@bastek66 yes it is ridiculous and stupid, but you could easily explain it as all women are inherently infected with a bacteria and the sound release is just the trigger for the change. Could even simply be a coincidence that the bugs release the sound.

That said, making all women deaf rather than becoming monsters would be the reasonable course of action.

With sound being the trigger, (and assuming the mutation kicks in when a specific sound wave is heard) then wouldn't any random female is at risk of mutating regardless if the sound is made by the bug or not? It could damn well be triggered by something as simple as saying hi to someone and suddnedly they're biting your face off. Lmao.
