The cage is transform from part of the dragon's tail.
I think it was first shown in chp 2 or 3 of the manga.

I guess I'm becoming jaded by reading very good mangas, but man !... the readability and the flow of this manga is getting worse.
The actual way the panels are set and drawn makes it hard to follow what is happening, which is not helped by the growing pace of the story. It took me a few seconds to understand the cage thing.
