Agreed. I hate when authors give a person a nuisancesome or malign personality, then suddenly the MC comes in and magically fixes that person's personality!

Real personality change takes awareness, effort, time. You can see the princess gain some awareness, but she has yet to put in proper effort or time - I think she's still in the stage of figuring out what her personality looks like externally

It isn't like there is ever a single branching point where one just ceases to be a newb.
Generally speaking, even if you were even ever aware of being one, you just keep improving subtly and eventually realise you've abandoned old habits and do things better than the current newbies, and it just clicks then.
