@kaarme if you read this version of this chapter, then that wasn't much of a spoiler. The whole comment was regarding the inconsistency between the two versions for this same chapter (but I'll wrap it in spoiler tags anyway as I realize belatedly that it can be considered as one if you didn't read both versions and as such interpret the two lines as diametrically opposed. thanks for pointing it out).
So yeah the future chaps bit is maybe slightly spoilerish, sorry about that. Although dont worry, 'future chapters' isn't much here, were just a few more released at that point (which was why I wasn't yet sure which version was correct back then, and only starting to suspect it).

i'd feel bad too. if i was a 30 year old mentally and all that happened, i'd feel like i'm holding the kid back from a potentially better future rip. ofc that won't happen and they're the main ship that won't sink, but still. the guilt is still there.
