@Xoldin @ReaVen_LEAD While that was part of it it seems like that was more the straw that broke the camel's back. She was being shunned and persecuted otherwise and clinging to him was probably what kept her from going over the edge.
So really this is just the usual 'the world hurt me' first storyline.
