Yeah, I would keep my defense up, but from what we know, he seems to just be another victim.

Someone created him for a reason, probably to have a kodoku be released and have a fight break out, so that they could kill the master and steal the texts in the middle of the fight... Little did they expect the byouki from getting them first though.
