It was a dome tent. It maintains its shape due to the long metal poles running through the pockets spanning the whole curve of the roof. Thus, it doesn't need stakes driven into the ground and tight ropes like many other types of tents. It also makes it easier for a single person to set it up. Although typically stakes can be used so that stronger winds won't make an empty tent fly away, but that's hardly an issue inside a classroom.
