I like the childhood friend but that wasn’t exactly chemistry between them. It’s fun to see him not have to hide his feelings, so maybe something will develop. In the back of his mind, sensei likes her but doesn’t seem to fully realize it, but then worries about the lines between his student to go as far as make up a fake girlfriend? To lie like that seemed extreme for this situation. Just say that she’s a friend and you’re enjoying the single life, if she’s mature like you think.

Ofc he would reject her. From adult pov, they are student-teacher, ethically and morally speaking it should never go beyond that. But he really didnt have to lie, just keep it at 'friend' instead of fake girlfriend. Also I do have issue her coming over to meet the teacher during an off day, if she's mature enough she should know it could be a troublesome thing. But then again, she's still a teen and he's her first love so its understable the emotional turbulence she's experiencing.
