@joshguy That's a fair pont, they may well betray the mc in which case I'd think that the appropriate action would be to maybe spread out the adventurers to search. Keeping his party together and maybe playing the role of some HQ that organises the search and keeps track of information and maps etc. so as to be wary whilst still being helpful and keeping track of the movements of everyone. This way they would be able to help if some group gets attacked while also making it harder for the creepy guy to make a hostile move.
