Rudy goes into a catatonic state after they defeat a dungeon against Hitogami's warnings. The end result is that a party member dies pushing Rudy out of the way, and Rudy still loses an arm. To make matters worse, the person they rescued was basically teleported into the boss chest, and being magically confined in there for years essentially destroyed their mind, reducing that person to a mute, with almost all of their personality, memories, ego, gone. The party decides the embrace of a woman could snap Rudy out of it, despite him being married.
