To be fair, if you do love or trust or respect someone, it's very easy to want to accept narratives that paint them more as the victim, or as someone making human mistakes; anything that will allow having to accept that the person you care about isn't who you thought they were.
I'm not sure I can say this sort of bias is universally bad; sometimes people do need some folks that will stay by them even when they've done something wrong, humans are a messy and complicated buisness...
All of which is going too far for this case, of course; this particular man does not deserve for his marriage to survive. Honestly seems like maybe he needs some jail time too ~w~;
