I'll be honest, I dont get the joke at all. Whatever the joke was referencing, its too regional and a lot of it got lost in the translation.

Well that's because it more or less is in a sense. From what I understand at least, saying someone should address you as "father" (when you are not actually their father) is like saying "I'm better than you so you should show me respect like you would your own Father". Another way to look at it is that he basically is saying to address yourself as his bitch.
