My Home Hero - Vol. 9 Ch. 74 - Secrets

If they end up prosecuting him, they'd have to throw out most of this "evidence"

@ickdrasil All this so called evidence ESPECIALLY that fucking wire tap on the car doesn't hold up in court. I don't know how it works in Japan but here in the US that is inadmissible. Procuring illegal evidence is thrown out regardless how damning to the case.

Fuck this shitty cop. I hope you;re fired and lose your pension

You guys are probably in the US, but in Japan, in some situations they do allow the admission of recordings made without consent in court. e.g.

@Xxjuggernaut Fortunately not every country's as corrupt as the US. Throwing out evidence is nonsensical and made to protect criminals. The correct course of action would be to also prosecute the person for obtaining evidence illegally, not throw it away.

Uhhhh everything this cop is doing is super illegal right? Wouldn’t all of this wiretap evidence be inadmissible in court?

Detective: All criminals are scum no matter what they did.
Also detective: *does incredibly illegal stuff*

People saying "this is all illegal in court", but you all need to know that the Judicial system of Japan is beyond fucked up, with 99% conviction rate of every person that's arrested.
The Police can stop and detain a person up to 20+ days without any kind of proof, as they mostly try to make the detained sign a paper with the admission of the crime, even with no certain and inescapable proof.

So this will become a gang war soon™ huh?

Tosu Tetsuo is a mastermind, then. He will make the cops, Syndicate and Tosu family kill each other... All this while his Daughter becomes more and more powerful(dumb). Haha, what a Psycho!

@GeneraleRusso Exactly, thank you. The Japanese police force/legal system were never really forced to give up a lot of the powers they had under imperial rule. This usually isn't a problem because on the whole Japanese society is a very forward thinking modern democracy. However a 99% conviction rate means that trails are really just for show. if you are brought before a judge it's over, it doesn't mater what rules the police broke to get you there.

@criver
Finally someone said it. Always pisses me off when I watch an American crime based tv series (Law and Order, CSI etc) and the exact same thing happen. They obtained the evidence by some shady means? Thrown out even though it can literally help catch a serial killer or rapist. I understand why it's in place but it's just annoying to see common sense not used where it's most needed.

But not throwing out illegally-procured evidence can create really bad incentives. "It's ok if I record him without his permission, since he'll still get convicted and I only get a fine/short jail time run by my buddies".

bro if you pressure a civilian into something they dont know of course they will submit to the pressure
