You know....this is before he is killed. He doesn't know who to trust in this moment. And he trusted the one that aparently was the only one willing to help him. We now know that that was a mistake. Anyway, this explain why the first thing he did when the trial time ended, was to punch the princess in the face.

The setting is naive young man with desperate desire to come home actually he have more power than necessary to force that to happens, he just want to believe there’s still hope and good in that world he painfully (forced) saved.
With every shit happens in that world it’s just natural for him for wanting the shortcut to go home
