It's Aisaika Day, or "Beloved Wives" Day in Japan. According to the Japan Aisaika Organization prospectus, it's a day they created in which they encourage "the 3 million husbands in Japan to get home by 8 p.m. and say thanks to their wives for all they do."

Maybe. That would make sense. But that's not what is being drawn here.

Especially in the bottom panel of page 3, standing one meter from someone isn't that close and wouldn't have normal people getting super flustered. (Obviously, she's not exactly "normal people" but…) The watching each other in the eyes might though. But anyway, the way she's drawn makes it obvious she's really close to his face.

But what's weird is that the mangaka has liberty to chose the rules ! If what he wanted to draw was a one foot distance or 10cm, he can just write that and draw it ! Here he draws one thing and writes another which is why I was wondering if maybe the translator slipped up a bit ?
