I know this is non-canon and it's a nice enough story overall but I'm a little bothered that Sakaki didn't even really acknowledge Kaorin (who, yes, does appear on the title page and in that one panel on the final page, partially covered by a narration square) in her thoughts unless this is supposed to take place very early in the manga before Kaorin started getting closer to Sakaki.
