I was hoping the uncle wasn't the one behind the attack as the prince looks up to him and it could also be very damaging to their efforts to aid the prince in controlling his curse, but with that last panel it seems he is the most likely suspect for the mastermind.

Just a guess, but the uncle might actually be a good guy who cares about the kid, except that he uses vicious methods against the bad guys. He's probably going to use Albert as a bait at the party to get the mastermind of the assassins. The twist at the end is a little too obvious, hence I think it might just be a red herring.
