@Weezer, in the UK, we eat a lot of "scotch eggs" where "scotch" is actually short for "scotched" which means minced/ground. The egg is surrounded by ground pork (sausagemeat). As steak and eggs is common, I can't see any reason not to substitute ground beef for pork. I think there are several countries that eat a savoury made from a hard boiled egg surrounded by meat.
