That woman is out drinking cocktails on her own while her kids are running riot at home without either parent around to supervise.
Difficult to balance a full-time job with raising children? OH REARRY? And I suppose that is why you're skipping the latter?

And since when have kids ever taken issue with booze smells?
The only reason adults are averse to it is because they recognise the smell and the assocation with what alcohol does to a mind. Young kids don't have any such association. Besides, the ladies were drinking cocktails, so they probably smell fruity if anything.
