@FlyingThunder Japanese people place a great amount of importance on cleanliness and hygiene, which combined with how they see sweat as something dirty on two degrees (expunging the disease via sweat and sweating on itself) it makes sense that they would want to clean themselves.

Besides, it helps regulate the body temperature by function of not being in wet clothes.
