ugh don't fucking ever do this to your kids, especially if you're the primary carer. imagine how upsetting it is if the person who cares for you, the only one you have, threaten to abandon you over a tomato? find another way to get the kid to eat, don't be a shitty parent.

...Yeah, I think I get what the author was trying to do but they fumbled it so badly XD Luckily it's fiction, and thus no permanent trauma shall be had. The child will thus not start to conclude that their parent will only love them if they're perfectly obedient, nor worry for the next five years about whether abandonment is a possible outcome for not eating their vegetables, as an actual child might.
