The main point is to not overdo it with the makeup. If other people see you have makeup on, it makes them think "it's the kind of girl who is all about looking pretty, but there's nothing on the inside". And that reduces one's appeal.

I don't like to use make up regularly! Like, it's fine for going out but why would I spend even 10 minutes to make my eyes a little larger and skin smoother? Like me or my colleagues care about it.. Also, when I use regularly make up, I look so plain without it, it always makes me sad, I even avoid looking in mirrors when I don't have make up. But if I go without make up for several days, I start to like my face without it.
It also annoying to wipe it all thoroughly, and I hate it when I can't wipe my face during the day without having to remake make up. Mascara dries out too fast (I'm not gonna buy another tube every few months, when I'm still not finished with old one, capito?), so I constantly have eye bags from mascara. Eye shadows goes from beautifully mate to oily looking mess after a few hours. BB cream may make my skin look lighter and evenly coloured, but it also make it looiing oily by the evening. Overall, it looks good on photos and from afar, but it has too many drawbacks for regular use (for me).
I don't catch much difference in male attention too, I'd say it depends more on clothing and inner openness. Like, I wear sometimes make up because I want to show off in front of my friends, but make up matters little when dealing with opposite sex. If you're open, guys will catch on that without your eye lashes thickened af. Make up is really like a charm you cast on yourself, boost to confidence. (If we're talking about impressing regular people who don't study make up in details unlike our tomgirl MC ofc.)
