@Morose This is only partially true. No one can stop anyone from calculating the odds on victory but the result will typically be that the odds are always in the house's favour. There are legal ways of shifting the odds in one's favour (card counting in Blackjack is the most famous) but if the casino figures out what you're doing, they'll ask you to leave and bar entry. They can't throw you in jail because you haven't committed any crimes. Places with corrupt law enforcement are another matter entirely.

Casinos and gambling as a whole is very bad business from the gamblers perspective. Should never gamble far too easy to trap yourself in a pit. Definitely another aspect of human nature that leads to the overall degeneration of society.
