Otoyomegatari - Vol. 1 Ch. 2 - Good Luck Charm

Page 23 : I dont know if this is a mistranslation , but futon is a Japanese bedding , while this story takes place in Central Asia .

Page 33 : actually , Amira is not the brat 's sister-in-law , she is his aunt-in-law .

That kid's so cute, you can see how unimpressed he is when doing chores.

Also holy macaroni the art's so detailed!!! I love wood carvings so this was such a joy to read and see

The carvings are amazingly detailed, amira isn't the kid sister in law she's his aunt in law

Oh man... that guy's job.

On one level I can appreciate the artistic level of detail... but on another... isn't that WAY too much effort for mere hand-rails, pillars and doors? Like just how much effort does this guy put into decorating supporting columns? Art is a luxury, but functionality is essential.... you could totally skip the art. That level of detail is like having a gold enamel frieze of a dragon on your toilet cistern. Totally unnecessary. Fuckin madlad.

@Pachka84 : Demonstrating that this is happening in, presumably, the 20th century... rather than... say... the middle ages. His clothing and glasses are basically a timestamp because the rest of the village probably hasn't culturally advanced in half a millennium.

For everyone who seems to forget what's said in the third page of the very first chapter: this takes place on the 19th Century, Central Asia.
