A manga-ka's job can be pretty damn harsh too (often a bit more self-inflicted than this but still), but it's nice of the author to bring attention to how an animation studio's employees have a job that's not only super hard but also totally thankless.
American animation studios don't really work the same way as Japanese ones. A new episode of Pokemon has been pumped out almost every single week for the past 22 years, meanwhile a given American cartoon gets like 13 20-minute episodes per year at most.
