ok so what I'm gathering is this guy is a writer and watches people die for inspiration. but then suddenly he wanted to help people get spirit vision for some reason?

also regarding the "if someone close to you is involved" it made me think back to the 3 people locked in the one room on the bottom floor that called themselves a family - maybe they were forced to do that so they would become "close" and then the writer guy was trying to unlock the sight for one of them after killing someone in that group.

and (this just came to me) maybe the writer unlocks the sight for people and then absorbs their power in order to strengthen himself or something.
