Let’s say hypothetically, the ex girlfriend Midori also still has feelings for Maki. Maybe she actually tried tracking her and pretended it wasn’t intentional, calling it “fate” then.
Maybe she wanted it to be a last goodbye and not tell her about getting married, but at last decided against it, exchanged lines, and even WANTS Maki to talk her out of the wedding and/or keep seeing her... for more than friend things
