Even if Sanosuke considers Megumi an opium woman, Kanryuu should surely be the main villain in his eyes. In that sense his stance was pretty strange. He should have been accompanying Kenshin simply not to save Megumi but to crush Kanryuu.

That being said, Hanya is a suprisingly old man.
