This is a great series. Now and then it shows its age--the way it handles women can get kind of old days-ish, and I'm not talking about the Shogunate era. It's mostly very episodic. But the art is beautiful, the cases are interesting, the situations often tense, the atmosphere powerful, there is good comic relief and thoughtful little studies of human nature--mostly the bad side. The weather sets the tone a lot.
