So the whole point of the last couple of chapters shenanigan is to show she is qualified for secret mission from the king (she is strong enough to block the commander strike).
While its true she is the king loyal subject, she is not the commander subordinate so nothing stops her from beating up the commander and agree to the assignment.

@Ifrittuccia I disagree, while romantism is fine and good to look at, Albert is doing the right thing. Say, if he had truly confessed his love, in his current position, being unable to trully marry her he would end up bringing nothing but sorrow to the maid.
Instead, he chose to not foment any feelings watsoever between them, maintaining the current professional status quo. Confessing here would be pretty damn egoistic and irresponsible.

Can't he take the maid as second wife? We didnt hear anything about polygamy and he is gonna be "king's sword" so that mean he is gonna be someone with a big title. I don't think anyone would care if he married a smol maid as well. Only problem i can imagine is if his first wife won't agree to this, then he would have to give up on his dream.
