Obviously a greater god of evil. One that has been biding its time, cursing 'seven lesser gods' into becoming a plague upon the world. Isn't it wonderful that the warrior of the goddess of light showed up? How else do you explain his ridiculous power in a world where they don't hunter Monster Hunter Elder Dragons?

Fair point. That’d certainly be a more convenient explanation especially if they’re gonna end up coming back here down the road or need their help but given how little time he had to think of a lie, I think he did pretty well. Ending the war peacefully and keeping the two tribes from killing eachother
