Just got caught up on this series, and I did not expect the author to subtly explain why Rosalind is the way she is. She's not just a crazy, psychotic bitch like that one lady in the 1910s.
...well okay Rosalind is insane, but there's also a method to her madness, as shown by the Red Riding Hood fairy tale as Rosalind is cutting that poor stray's stomach out. She's a sheltered kid who probably grew up on Grimm-styled fairy tales, and so her logic might have been informed by them. Your cousin is being mean to you? Play a little trick on them! Your aunt wants to see her daughter again? Help her out win the most literal way possible! And she thinks she can get away with it because that's how it works in the stories. She doesn't fully understand the truth about death, or how people would react her actions.
Liking this so far, can't wait to see more!
