Semelparous - Vol. 1 Ch. 3

What are the odds this turns out to be
an over-elaborate method of dealing with overpopulation under the guise of an engineered alien attack (not unlike Ozy's methods for Peace)
?

welp, didn't expect that

not related to the plot, but their balloons are a bit too distracting for my tastes

The only question in my mind right now. Are there other ways to transfer the aegis other than a boob fondling.

@justforthelulz Astral body goes sour.
I rather guess it is some negative emotion thingy - don't wanna life anymore jada jada shit - that makes people into Kaijuu.

@justforthelulzI think it has more to do with their astral bodies, since the connection between the two was pretty thoroughly detailed and the first death mentioned on the news was heart failure.

I don't know exactly what the explanation will be, but I wouldn't be surprised if there's some change that can happen in a normal person's psyche or personality that causes their astral body to go berserk/transform. Maybe they get cut off from the astral body in some way and the kaijuu are just the manifestation of the two halves trying to reconnect unaware of the damage they're causing

Really enjoying this - nice to see the one shot continued on (even if it is in slightly alternate universe).

First i hate shingeki no kyojin , second if you are going to copy it at least make good changes , third the story here is trash , fourth the yuri here is trash too

Such a thoroughly Japanese setup. I'll reserve my judgement on it; so far it seems kinda ... eh? Admittedly I half expected it to be a friend of hers she's killing ^^

e: So Semelparity is usually about reproduction strategies, ie the type where the adult then immediately dies after making sure the next generation is born? Don't know what that'd mean in this context if that's where the title comes from.

I guess that little reveal will stop the romance for a bit, at least Haruka won't return as a kaijuu.

Youko will obviously continue her advances though, she's making good progress.

@justforthelulz Given the apparent low frequency of Kaijuu attacks and the fact the buggers always seem to fly solo the resulting death toll is demographically not even a rounding error. You'd get way more mileage out of just letting the buggers go Godzilla on downtown, or encouraging unhealthy eating (it's amazing really how many people die every year from byproduct consequences of poor diet and lack of exercise).

Also, uh, remind me again what overpopulation exactly Japan and its sub-replacement fertility rate would need to address in the first place...?
